To achieve a watertight and durable connection between your solar panels, it is very important that your MC4 connectors are properly tightened. Tightening with pliers does not provide the desired result because you can damage the connectors. In addition, you will not notice when the connectors are sufficiently tightened, or when they are tightened too tight.
