In Enphase IQ installations, the multi-phase IQ Relay functions as a network monitoring and disconnect device and includes a built-in phase coupler for distributing communication signals in power cables between phases. An external phase coupler is not required when the IQ Relay (3-phase) is installed. The IQ Relay physically disconnects the IQ Microinverters from the grid when abnormalities are detected or when required by grid regulations, and automatically reconnects when grid conditions are again applicable.
