BYD B-Box Premium HV Battery Control Unit 2.0 + Base 16448287-00.
The proven HVS and HVM high-voltage series from BYD have received a practical update with the new BCU 2.0. Thanks to external plug-in ports, removing the cover plate to connect communication and power cables is a thing of the past. Standard RJ45 connectors and MC4 connectors now allow for faster and easier installation. When using the supplied connectors of the BCU 2.0, use a suitable crimping tool and follow BYD's instructions.
A Battery-Box Premium HVS consists of 2 to 5 HVS battery modules connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 5.1 to 12.8 kWh. Furthermore, direct parallel connection of up to 3 identical Battery-Box Premium HVS units allows a maximum capacity of 38.4 kWh. There is the possibility to scale up by adding HVS modules or parallel HVS stacks later.
A Battery-Box Premium HVM consists of 3 to 8 HVM battery modules connected in series to achieve a usable capacity of 8.3 to 22.1 kWh. Additionally, a direct parallel connection of up to 3 identical Battery-Box Premium HVM units allows a maximum capacity of 66.2 kWh. Scalability is possible by adding HVM modules or parallel HVM stacks later.
The BYD battery from the HVS series, which stands for High-Voltage Small, has the smallest capacity, as the name suggests. A standard package consists of 2 battery modules with a combined capacity of 5.1 kWh. The HVS can be expanded up to a maximum of 5 modules. This achieves a total capacity of 12.8 kWh. Each individual module has a capacity of 2.56 kWh with an internal voltage of 102.4V. Whether you can use a total of 5 modules depends on the battery or hybrid inverter used. You can connect up to 3 battery towers in parallel - so 3 x 5 battery modules - achieving a maximum capacity of 38.4 kWh.
The BYD HVM battery, or High-Voltage Medium, has a higher capacity than the HVS. A basic package consists of 3 battery modules with a combined capacity of 8.3 kWh. This model can be expanded up to a maximum of 8 modules with a combined capacity of 22.1 kWh. Each module has a capacity of 2.76 kWh and an internal voltage of 51.2V.
This model also has a minimum. You must use at least 3 modules for a functioning battery. A maximum of 3 identical systems can be connected in parallel – so 3 x 8 – achieving a maximum capacity of 66.2 kWh.
